The Torah is brimming with positive commandments that require physical action. From the simple act of donning tefillin to the more intricate rituals of Shabbat observance, each mitzvah involves a physical component. These physical actions aren’t mere formalities; they’re expressions of our devotion to G-d and our commitment to living a life full of meaning.

Chassidus emphasises the importance of bodily health as a foundation for spiritual vitality. The Lubavitcher Rebbe often highlighted the significance of physical health, quoting the Talmudic sage Maimonides who stated, “Maintaining a healthy and whole body is an integral part of Divine service.”

By nurturing our physical bodies, we’re better equipped to fulfil our spiritual obligations. Regular physical activity, a wholesome diet, and ample sleep are essential for maintaining optimal physical and mental well-being. When we’re physically fit, we’re better prepared to face life’s challenges and serve G-d with enthusiasm and dedication.
